Project: Detentiecentrum, Alphen aan den Rijn
In the period from summer 2005 to summer 2007 the biggest prison so far in the Netherlands was built in Alphen aan den Rijyn. The main building features 648 cells and accommodates approx. 1300 persons in which two inmates are sharing a cell (sizes: 2.40m x 5.40m including toilet).
By order of the primer contractor Bouwcombinatie van Wijnen Timmers Hering supplied the façades of all 5 buildings as well as the ring wall surrounding the prison complex (up to a total of 852 precast panels).
