Follow-up report Berlin
Everything to do with toilets
At the very latest in the evening of 19 November every visitor of the WC Centre at Berlin’s Central Railway Station was aware that there is such a thing as a World Toilet Day. The German Toilet Organization (GTO) held a press conference in front of the station entrance on Washingtonplatz where the participants sat on toilet bowls instead of chairs. The reason was the demand put to the Federal government for a promotion program for the implementation of 100,000 ecologically sustainable toilets – both in developing countries and in Germany.
The events in the WC-Centre at Berlin’s Central Railway station also aroused plenty of interest with the WC users. This allowed the Hering staff to create more awareness for the subject of “Toilet” in many discussions. As a result of the Hering sponsored entrance during the event, approx. 800 visitors were allowed to use the sanitary facilities at Berlin’s Central Railway station free of charge on World Toilet Day. The questionnaire campaign also received a positive response and nearly every fifth visitor participated. Here you can get to the questionnaire results.
