Main Fire and Emergency Rescue Station in Langenfeld

The main fire and emergency rescue station in Langenfeld, which was planned by the starkarchitekten architect’s office in Siegen and consists of five structural elements arranged in a U-shape, is now ready for operation.

In addition to the application of glass, the white curtain wall with the acid etched surface has contributed towards creating a “light, transparent and totally clearly structured impression”, in spite of the imposingly large scale of the building.

A particular highlight is the 7.50 m high and 4.30 m wide image of photo concrete, which shows two fully equipped firemen.

Another show-piece is the 24 metre high hose tower, which was dressed in a gown of glowing red by Hering – a sandwich façade with a washed surface.

In the second half of the year, the 15 million Euro project of the town of Langenfeld can, at last, be put into operation. Among other things, the station will accommodate vehicles, an administration department, social and training departments, as well as a workshop and maintenance department.
