Two modular Hering platforms for the transportation services of Cologne (KVB), stop station Chlodwigplatz, Cologne

News published on 10:39:18 11.11.2009

From the 29 till the 31 of July 2009, Hering crews constructed two side-boarding platforms during night shifts, at the Chlodwigplatz stop station in Cologne, for the THG Baugesellschaft construction company (on behalf of KVB as the awarding authority).

The Chlodwigplatz stop station is an important junction of the southern district of Cologne. A road block was necessary during operations. The installation of respectively 60 m lengths of modular platforms was performed with the aid of a 200 tonne mobile crane. The elements were delivered to the centre of the Rhine metropolis by lorry.

The realisation of the construction project presented a great challenge with regard to logistics, due to the extremely cramped conditions of the inner city and the urban traffic of the inner city. However, thanks to the excellent collaboration of the responsible bodies of KVB, all logistic issues were successfully resolved.
