The Loo of the Year award ceremony was held on the 4th of December 2009 at the National Motorcycle Museum exhibition centre near Birmingham. The British Toilet Association (BTA), which is committed to raising the standard of all public toilet facilities in Great Britain, stages an annual award ceremony for the “Loo of the Year”. Any kind of public institution is able to nominate its toilet facilities for this award. The following categories are differentiated for this purpose: Retailers, restaurants, leisure centres, holiday parks, training schools, hospitals, office buildings, parking facilities, self-contained public toilets, cultural buildings, mobile toilets, transport, beaches and sport facilities. These are, in turn, divided up into a total of 60 sub-categories, such as supermarkets, cafes, hotels, primary schools, grammar schools, continuously staff attended toilet facilities, automatic and semi-automatic toilet facilities, museums, theatres, cinemas, motorways, train stations… Since 1987, all parties concerned gather to receive their prize in the form of a certificate. Before the award ceremony and during the breaks, the visitors were provided with an opportunity to find out about the latest innovative products.

Hering took advantage of this opportunity by installing the 2 U urinal stand in the foyer of the National Motorcycle Museum. Prospective customers and interested visitors were pretty impressed with the versatile design possibilities and our wide range of products.

Towards the end of the event, the McDonalds chain of fast food outlets was able to receive the prize for the best toilet facilities.
