On behalf of DB Station & Service AG, Düsseldorf / DB ProjektBau, Duisburg, within the scope of the modernisation project 2 (MOF 2) at the Breyell and Duelken railway stations, 2 railway platforms will be extended by 40 m at each respective station. The original side-boarding platform, which the Hering crew extended in Breyell, is also a Hering construction, and was built in 2005 within the scope of the previous framework contract with DB AG.
At the railway station in Duelken, the Hering crew firstly mounted the extension onto the existing prefabricated railway platform built by another manufacturer; the second extension was mounted onto the original, conventionally built platform. During the construction planning, which was performed by Hering, the disadvantageous building ground in Duelken had to be taken into account: The conclusion of this was that these railway platforms had to be founded on driven foundation piles. A special weekend approval had to be obtained for the delivery of the building elements, hich were then delivered by lorry. Not only was the construction work performed professionally, but also at a pretty fast pace: Within a period of only 9 months, all work phases for both projects were performed in accordance with HOAI (Free Structure for Architects and Engineers) and to the satisfaction of all parties involved.
