On 18 November 2015 the 19th Betonprijs was awarded during a festive ceremony in Rotterdam. Dutch projects in which the material concrete was processed in particular ways were honoured. The twelve-member expert jury comprised of representatives of the Dutch concrete industry evaluated the projects in eight categories.
The I/O-Building of the educational faculty of the Hogeschool van Arnhem and Nijmegen were able to assert themselves against the competition in the “Concrete Technology” category. Based on the drafts of LIAG architects en bouwadviseurs, Hering developed a white textile reinforced concrete façade with green recycling glass as an alternative mineral aggregate, which was exposed through subsequent fine washing of the surface. That means the façade meets the highest requirements, both in ecological and in architectural terms.
