Botanical Garden in Cologne: installation of a two-room toilet

Even more safety at the location and improved quality of the time spent there? These were among the goals pursued with the installation of the new City-WC at the Botanical Garden in Cologne. A new toilet was required due to the fact that urban green spaces, particularly at the Botanical Garden, are becoming increasingly popular with the public.

Safe all round: the modern sanitation facility by HERING Sanikonzept GmbH complies with DIN 18040 for barrier-free design and has been certified in accordance with DIN CERTCO and may therefore also be used by people with disabilities. It provides both a urinal space and a barrier-free unisex cubicle. Great importance was attached to a design that also allowed people with disabilities to use them. That means that the cubicle offers extra-wide access for wheelchair users. The sliding doors open automatically, the buttons feature Braille and pyramid lettering and the washbasin may be lowered for use from wheelchairs. Folding support handles and a backrest at the WC bowl as well as an alarm for emergencies that has been incorporated into the WC system round off the design.
