Cologne’s Central Station: New rail&fresh sanitation facilities opened

State-of-the-art features and the latest technologies: the rail&fresh WC facility at Cologne’s Central Station leaves nothing to be desired. Greatest importance was afforded to the contact-free while at the same time hygienic use of the sanitation solution during the planning stages. In addition to contact-free access through Speedgates, the sanitiser dispensers at the entrance and the contact-free release of various media (soap, disinfection, etc.) also help the facility meet the highest of demands on hygiene.

Users are able to benefit from a men’s area with seven cubicles, a urinal area with 15 urinals and a separate shower room. The ladies’ section features 13 cubicles and a shower room. There’s also a family cubicle with table for changing babies’ nappies. Not to mention the separate ‘toilet for everyone’ – built in accordance with the concept drawn up by Stiftung Leben pur (Pure Life Foundation). This is equipped with a height-adjustable changing bed with a fold-down side rail and an overhead hoist for safely transferring visitors from wheelchairs to the changing bed or toilet.

The new rail&fresh facility also created a new connection between the E and C passages that also allows people to easily traverse the station through the WC facilities.
