The first phase of the Elektronisches Stellwerk (ESTW) Obere Lahn project has been successfully completed! In April 2024, HERING Bahnbau’s civil engineering division took on the role of a subcontractor for the first time, carrying out earthworks for VOGT Elektrotechnik.
As part of the project, adjustments to track systems, platforms, level crossings, and technical equipment were necessary in addition to the construction of the ESTW. Furthermore, the track field lighting at the Löhnberg, Weilburg, and Kerkerbach stations was either newly installed or dismantled. Our scope of work included demolition and excavation tasks as well as the installation of precast foundations for the low-level track aisle lighting.
Despite delays caused by missing approvals and planning adjustments, our teams successfully completed around 70% of the work within four weeks—working night shifts to stay on schedule. A huge thank you to our crew for their dedication and hard work!
Due to further project adjustments, some final work is still required and is now scheduled for the third quarter of 2025. We remain optimistic about completing the project successfully.
