HERING platforms built at Hirschaid stop

The Hirschaid stop in Upper Franconia belongs to the Altendorf-Hirschaid-Strullendorf construction section and is part of the Nuremberg-Ebensfeld railway line extension.

The existing electrified line with two tracks is being extended to four tracks along the 10-kilometre stretch. That will enable speeds of up to 230 km/h on two tracks while the other two tracks will be able to handle speeds up to 160 km/h and will continue to be used for regional, commuter and freight traffic.

Access to the trains at the Hirschaid stop has been guaranteed in spite of the extensive construction work on this section of the line by two temporary HERING platforms that were installed in September 2021. The contractor is Leonhard Weiss GmbH & Co KG and DB Netz AG Nuremberg is the principal.

A total of 250 metres of platform – including ramp and lamp posts – was built from 5 to 10 September 2021 in just 11 shifts (day and night) and 110 hours.
