New betoShell® NEO30 product installed for the first time in Düsseldorf's Andreas District

An entire district celebrated its reopening in Düsseldorf's old town last autumn: many new buildings were built for a variety of uses in the Andreas District that centres around the Mühlenstraße. One of these buildings is the ‘Solitär’, a cube on Mutter-Ey-Platz, in the immediate vicinity of the listed building that was previously home to the district court. A café with space for art exhibitions was opened here; the upper floors have been let as office space.

The ‘Solitär’ is also characterised by an innovative architectural concrete façade that has been realised with Hering Architectural Concrete. betoShell® NEO30 elements in sizes of up to 3.60 x 2.40 metres were used by the slapa oberholz pszczulny (sop) firm of architects, which is based in Düsseldorf. These façade elements possess two carbon-reinforced layers that allow a single element thickness of only three centimetres to be realised. With its white acidified finish, the corner of the building creates a sophisticated highlight for this modern area of the City.
