The refurbishment of parking and WC facilities (PWCs) along the A5, A6 and A8 motorways in Baden-Württemberg constitutes a major infrastructure project – and it was realised by HERING Sanikonzept. A total of eight parking and service areas were extensively modernised, with work focusing in particular on smaller facilities. Among other things, this project included the renewal of doors, floor coverings and control technology to significantly improve comfort and safety for motorway users. The rehabilitated systems included three systems by other companies while the remaining five were also originally sourced from HERING.
This extensive rehabilitation project was carried out as part of a follow-up order placed by Autobahn GmbH. The order was preceded by a successfully concluded pilot project at Kochertal Bridge that served as the basis for further cooperation. The modernisation of the parking and service areas plays a central role in the continuous optimisation of the infrastructure along the busy motorways and is helping improve how the needs of road users in Baden-Württemberg are being met.
The project commenced with the rehabilitation of the Heckengäu and Birkenwäze locations and was eventually extended to all eight WC facilities. The entire project has already been concluded successfully with the facilities now boasting a new and modern look. These measures by HERING Sanikonzept were not only designed to meet current technical and hygiene standards, they were also aimed at setting pioneering quality standards for motorway services.
They constitute a significant contribution to the improvement of the services infrastructure in Baden-Württemberg, which ultimately increases both travel comfort and road safety on the motorways. The modernised facilities now offer a contemporary and user-friendly environment for all travellers and set new standards for future infrastructure projects on along busy routes.
