Track Construction Update at Frankfurt Central Station: Six Weekends on the North Side

Since the end of August, Frankfurt Central Station has been a hive of activity: in six construction phases, our track construction team is renewing a total of 16 switches, installing over 700 meters of new rails, 550 sleepers, and around 4,000 tons of ballast. Four weekends have already been successfully completed—more than half of the work is done.

While the assembly of the new switches takes place from Monday to Friday, the remaining renewals are carried out exclusively during the scheduled closures on weekends. This way, train services remain largely unaffected during the week.

In addition to the renewal of tracks and switches, the measures also include a comprehensive ballast replacement. This creates the foundation for safe, stable, and long-lasting operations.

The project impressively demonstrates how experience, precision, and teamwork interlock. Every weekend is meticulously planned, every component is placed with millimeter accuracy. “Everything from a single source” is not just a motto here, but lived practice: from dismantling the old switches to planning and precise assembly, the team works hand in hand.

In Frankfurt, the course is being set for reliable rail traffic—teamwork, technology, and expertise in perfect harmony.
