May we introduce you to our latest innovative research project: the SOLAR.con façade? This revolutionary exposed concrete façade employs 274 yield-optimised oriented small photovoltaic modules with state-of-the-art technology to combine sustainable power production with aesthetic design.
The project was funded by the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (BMWK – Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action) and is a pioneering step towards energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building.
The demonstrator, realised at our site in Burbach-Holzhausen, serves as a working example for the efficiency and versatility of the SOLAR.con façade. We’ve not only achieved aesthetic elegance, we’ve also made a contribution to the conservation of resources and protection of the environment by using recycled concrete and a smooth, white exposed concrete finish.
We were responsible for designing, manufacturing and installing the highly complex rear-ventilated curtain façade. The self-supporting elements were placed in front of a renovated old building and connected horizontally to the roof’s steel structure. But it’s also possible to suspend them from the in-situ concrete of a load-bearing shell structure using façade panel anchors and drilled anchors.
