A new industrial, technology and knowledge campus – the ‘Mark 51°7’ – is being developed on the former site of the Opel car factory in Bochum. ETAS GmbH, a BOSCH® Group subsidiary, is also operating from this new location in Bochum. ETAS is responsible for developing the software for the BOSCH® company’s driver-assistance and automated driving systems.
The team at Hering Architectural Concrete was awarded the contract for the manufacture, delivery and installation of the façade elements for the new ETAS campus in December 2021.
The project required a total of 175 elements and extends over five floors. That’s the equivalent of a façade area of 1,300 square metres. The elements in the Nordic-white colour scheme stand out for their 3D look, which, depending on the sunlight, is very visible from a distance and creates a modern and timeless appearance for the building.
Recycled concrete was also used at our prefabrication plant to manufacture the blasted panels. The proportion of RC materials used for this project was 507 kilograms per cubic metre, which actually equates to a share of around 30%. The work represented another important step towards sustainable and resource-saving construction. The project was designed and planned by the agn Niederberghaus & Partner GmbH firm of architects and was successfully approved in March 2023.
