The development of young talent is one of the main priority’s for Stuttgart’s Bundesliga club. That’s why a new high-performance centre that overlooks the first team’s stadium was built for the junior teams. In addition to 17 locker rooms and a large fitness area for the young and upcoming talent, the new centre boasts several meeting and presentation rooms as well as PC workstations for the coaches and assistants.

Those who can’t get enough of football can spend their free time between training sessions on the pitch with artificial turf in the courtyard. The Stuttgart-based ‘asp’ architects chose betoShell®FLEX40 elements in anthracite with an acidified finish as the cladding for the façade. The reinforcement within the textile-reinforced concrete meant that the composite material met the architects’ aesthetic and technical demands.

Load tests have shown that betoShell® is very good in regard to ball impact resistance, which means that it’s also possible to use the façade system in areas that need to satisfy high demands, such as areas as football pitches. The dark elements contrast with the red louvre design that protects the glass façade on the upper floors.

The new high-performance centre fits in perfectly with its surroundings, which are dominated by the VfB Stuttgart Bundesliga club, and offers the youth teams conditions that are perfect for training.
