New build of an indoor swimming pool in Wildeshausen

The ‘Krandelbad’ in Wildeshausen celebrated its grand opening in 2014. It immediately became popular with swimmers from the surrounding areas; so much so that the indoor pool had already welcomed more than 32,000 guests by the end of the year.

The building stands out for its unusual appearance. Hering Architectural Concrete’s betoShell® elements were used to clad the façade’s broad front. The textile-reinforced concrete in anthracite was subsequently given an acidified finish to make it sparkle in the sunlight. Rubber matrices were also used to work a relief pattern into the façade, which contrasts with the entrance building’s coating of light green paint. The façade provides a view of the indoor swimming pool through a large window while also simultaneously offering privacy for visitors to the open-air swimming area that is also part of the complex.

The ‘Krandelbad’ is very popular and – with its high-quality façade – is a great addition to the cityscape.
