Following the tendering phase, Immobilien Bremen AöR took the decision at the end of May 2010 to use HERING’s betoShell® to create a new outer skin for the Performa Nord administration building, which was in serious need of refurbishment.
It became apparent once the existing prefabricated façade had been removed that the encountered dimensional tolerances would not permit the installation of the originally intended supporting structure for the thin façade elements. An alternative had to be found, which was why the decision to use betoShell®flex was taken.
More that 1,700 square metres of betoShell elements were produced for the project in total. The building extends across seven floors. The façade elements were produced in beige and bronze and given an acidified finish. The ceiling elements were also acidified in the colour of beige.
The building’s lobby was fitted with a striking façade realised with relief concrete that featured lettering and that significantly enhanced the building’s entrance area as a result.
