Visible from a great distance, the new building of the Regional Educational Centre ROC Leiden at Lammenschanspark towers above the brick façades of the neighbouring old town of Leiden in Zuid-Holland. The fascinating design of the building originates from the pen of the renowned Dutch architectural office RAU in Amsterdam and, despite the formidable size of the building, it is characterised by a high level of transparency and a feeling of lightness. In order to be able to create this appearance of lightness and meet the high aesthetic demands, even with regard to the closed façade surfaces, it was decided that the ideal solution would be a textile reinforced, curtain wall façade made of concrete. With regard to the colour design, the choice fell upon a green coloured, high-performance concrete, of which the lustrous natural stone aggregate comes brilliantly to the fore through additional acidification of the panel surface.
