The construction industry faces a critical challenge: significantly reducing CO₂ emissions. Concrete, as one of the most widely used building materials worldwide, contributes substantially to CO₂ emissions. Yet, it remains indispensable for modern construction projects.
The solution: SUS.con – HERING’s CO₂-reduced concrete, actively contributing to improving the climate footprint.
CO₂-reduced concrete like SUS.con significantly lowers CO₂ emissions compared to conventional concrete. Since around 80% of emissions come from the high proportion of Portland cement clinker, SUS.con reduces the clinker content. The result: sustainable concrete with the same quality and stability.
When using our CO₂-reduced concrete SUS.con in the modula® Type 1|1b precast platforms, at least 26% of CO₂ emissions can be saved compared to our conventional platform – based on life cycle stages A1 and A2 (i.e., raw materials and transport to the precast plant). The innovative concrete formulation meets all regulatory construction requirements in Germany and the EU – ensuring straightforward and safe application.
Additionally, recycled aggregate (RC concrete) can be used. A building authority approval for platforms made from SUS.con with recycled concrete is currently being prepared in Germany.
Choose sustainable building materials and reduce your CO₂ footprint with HERING’s innovative concrete SUS.con!
At HERING, we see ourselves as pioneers in the field of sustainability. As early as 1996, we were the first construction company in Germany to obtain EMAS certification. Every three years, we publish an environmental statement documenting our goals and how we have achieved them. Actually, for the first time, we published a sustainability report with an integrated environmental statement in accordance with EMAS - a logical next step in view of our ecological and social responsibility. It documents how we deal internally and externally with the issues that are essential to our future viability.
As a confirmation of decades of research into solutions for producing resource-efficient concrete, HERING Bau GmbH & Co. KG Systeme received the CSC certification in silver for the first time in August 2024, with an outstanding score of 73.8%.
