70 metres of modula® platforms for the Saarbahn rail link in Bübingen

The town of Bübingen in the Saarland region has been planning the conversion of its Saarbahn stop for a long time. The work also included the replanning of the access routes and the forecourt, accessibility and the building of the new platform. The federal and state governments invested € 4.5 million in this measure with the intention of offering their citizens a good infrastructure for the future.

Demolition work on the old station and the associated area on behalf of DB-Station&Service AG and MTB Nordstemmen (the general contractor) started at the beginning of June 2023.

The HERING Systeme team also did a great job on this project – it was responsible for the planning, manufacture and delivery of the new platforms. The modula® 1b system platforms were installed on special prefabricated pile head beams using a mobile crane to ensure the necessary stability, safety and durability.

The project’s 2.75-metre-wide platform elements stretched to a total length of 70 metres. The height from the top of the rail is 38 centimetres. Delivery was by standard truck semi-trailer, with the exception of one 3.25-metre-wide element, which needed to be transported to the construction site at an angle by inloader truck.

A technical and practical master performance everyone all involved in the project!
