Barrier-free conversion of the Bad Breisig transport depot

Last year, HERING was able to win the tender for the barrier-free reconstruction of the Bad Breisig transport hub and, as a result, the planning phase was already commenced in September 2022. The Bad Breisig stop is located in Rhineland-Palatinate and lies on the Cologne to Bingen line. The area is not completely unfamiliar to HERING because the Oberwinter construction project had already taken it there to the beautiful Rhine region.

The conversion measures made for a busy start to the new year: The tracks were initially closed with the first shut-down of services on 6 January 2023. A great deal of work has been carried out – in multiple shifts and sometimes at the weekends – since then. This has meant that it has already been possible to implement the new build for Platform 2, with a length of 225 metres; the old platform roof has also been dismantled and two track crossings have been installed. Construction has already commenced on the two new lifts for passengers.

The work that has already been completed is outstanding even though there is still lots to be done before the construction project has been completed. The colleagues at this site demonstrated what can be done with the greatest possible commitment and high professional competence!
