Première in Bamberg: HERING’s modular platform system modula® light

The Bavarian town of Bamberg is located at the confluence of the rivers Regnitz and Main and stretches across seven hills. The welcoming old town features well-preserved buildings built between the 11th and 19th centuries.

HERING’s own modula® light platform system recently celebrated its première at Bamberg’s main station. modula® light is HERING's modular platform system. It uses individual pre-fabricated foundations, support beams and platform slabs in variable dimensions and enables fast and flexible assembly solutions.

HERING’s system doesn’t employ monolithic elements (TT elements) but separate sections and slabs. They weigh less and that allows the components to be assembled using road-rail excavators – which in turn eliminates the need for cranes.

This modular HERING system was deployed for the first time in Bamberg. HERING’s team extended two platforms by 30 metres each from the beginning of June to the end of September 2021.

The contractor for the Bamberg construction project is Leonhard Weiss GmbH & Co. KG, the principal is DB Station&Service AG in Bamberg.
