The ‘new’ town hall in Korbach made it into the top four in the Architecture Category and was nominated for the final. Parts of this project were realised by HAC. HERING’s prefabrication plant produced a total of 260 slabs of recycled concrete for this project. The principal wanted to create a building ensemble that was also sustainable and energy-efficient in addition to being open and citizen-friendly. HERING Architectural Concrete | HAC was therefore commissioned to produce a suitable façade using exposed concrete. And it was important to the town’s representatives that recycled concrete (RC) was used.
The many sustainable and strong arguments were not enough for the town hall in Korbach to take first place. But we’re still proud to have been nominated for the most important and future-oriented competition of today. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Grüntuch Ernst Architekten / Wilmina GmbH on its win in this category.
The Deutsche Nachhaltigkeitspreis with its eight competitions, more than 1,000 applicants and 2,000 guests at the closing events is the most comprehensive prize of its kind in Europe. The DNP will be awarding prizes for pioneering contributions in 2022 to the transformation to a sustainable future for the 15th time. It takes the best examples to demonstrate how it is possible to achieve ecological and social progress more quickly. The award aims to motivate all key actors to change, to network across borders and to stimulate partnerships.
