Hotel Das Stue, Berlin, DE

Axthelm Architekten, Potsdam, DE

For the refurbishment of the Building, which was built end of the thirties of the last century, based on drawings of the KaDeWe architect Johann Emil Schaudt, the Potsdam based office Axthelm Architekten placed highest value on the connection of history and modernity. Contrary to other buildings,  here the outer walls were “wallpapered”. The façade on the rear elevation of the hotel, which is faced to the Tiergarten, has a “wallpaper” of steel-reinforced concrete with a floral pattern of photo concrete. Furthermore the flooring panels of the terrace and the supended ceilings are made of textile reinforced concrete panels with photo concrete surface.
